A Dundee boy with cerebral palsy is “delighted” to be reunited with his pet cat after the animal’s mysterious disappearance.

Storm belongs to nine-year-old Jonathan Williams from Linlathen but somehow ended up on the on the other side of the city, at Ninewells Hospital, where she was spotted trying to sneak into a side entrance by staff.

Rumours circulated on social media that two women were seen throwing the lost cat out of a car outside the hospital’s A&E department earlier that day.

Jonathan’s mum, Shelley Forrester, said she had no idea who the women could be or why they would take the cat, but was adamant the beloved pet would not have been able to get so far away by itself.

She said: “Storm is an outdoor cat so she is out and about, but Ninewells is too far away to have walked by herself, so somebody must have lifted her.

“Fortunately, she’s not injured and we were reunited through the Missing Pets Dundee and Angus group, but since coming back she’s not been the same.

“She no longer wants to go far from the house and is more nervous around people, whereas before she was extremely friendly.

“Storm belongs to my son Jonathan and daughter Leah, who are nine and eight-years-old and would have been devastated if something worse had happened to their pet — especially Jonathan, who is disabled.

“He was delighted to have her back though.”

A Ninewells Hospital worker, who did not give a name, said: “We spotted her trying to get into the hospital side entrance when we finished shift.

“One of the domestics reported to staff that she saw someone throwing the cat out of a car beside A&E – although I never witnessed that.

“She is a lovely wee thing. We managed to coax her into my sister in law’s cat box with some of her cat treats.”

The staff contacted Missing Pets Dundee and Angus, who reunited Storm with her family on August 16.

Since then Shelley has been trying to get to the bottom of what happened, with no success.

She said she has contacted police but Police Scotland said they have no information on the incident.
