Police have appealed for information after Tuesday night’s fire at Braeview Academy.
The school is closed today and likely for some time after flames ripped through one of the main blocks.
Locals have told The Courier that youngsters were seen near the school shortly before fire broke out at around 9.40pm.
Police say the fire remains unexplained but they want to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious.
Inspector Chris Boath said: “The building was extensively damaged and inquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of the fire. A joint investigation with Scottish Fire and Rescue Service will take place in due course.
“Thankfully no-one was injured as a result of the fire. We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area around the time of the fire or anyone witnessed anything suspicious to come forward.”
