Police in Dundee have said a two-year-old girl falling 20-feet onto the pavement from a first-floor window was an ‘unfortunate accident’.

The girl fell from the Logie Street flat around 10.15 on Thursday morning.

Passers-by raised the alarm before the girl’s father raced down from the flat to pick her up off the street.

She was then taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment and was said to be bleeding from the head.

Police Scotland confirmed on Friday that her injuries are not life threatening and said there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.

A spokesman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that following Thursday’s incident in Logie Street, Dundee, where a two year old girl fell from a first floor window, investigation into the incident has shown that there are no suspicious circumstances, and this has been a very unfortunate accident.

“The girl is now recovering well in hospital, and her family have requested for privacy while she recovers.”

Shocked neighbours described the horrifying moment they saw the tot lying “limp and lifeless” on the ground.

One said: “I think she had been knocked out but when she got back inside she began to scream so I think she must have come round.

“There were loads of police and the ambulance arrived.

“This is a terrible thing that’s happened to her. I really hope she is going to be all right.”
