Comedian Jim Davidson has blamed a lack of advertising for failing to sell-out a Dundee theatre for his latest show.
The TV star was due to appear at the Whitehall Theatre on Sunday night as part of a UK tour for the show Jim Davidson – The People Fight Back.
The veteran comic took exception to what he claimed was a lack of advertising before the event as he threatened to return to his hotel instead of going on with the show.
In a Tweet on Sunday night the the stand-up star said ‘Just arrived at the Whitehall Theatre in Dundee. Not a poster in sight, no fliers and an A frame outside advertising another show.
‘Of 45 gigs sold out this is one of three that didn’t. I am back at the hotel. Why should I bother?’

In a later Tweet Davidson acknowledged the theatre, on Bellfield Street, had later put out a poster advertising his show, which attracted 400 people.
The gig on Sunday was to replace an earlier show due to be held in Dundee on February 8 which was cancelled due to the former Big Break presenter’s ill health.
A veteran of many performances at the venue, Davidson spoke out in support of it when its future was thrown into doubt following the collapse of the company that ran it in 2011.
Not many people who spotted the Tweet had much sympathy for the comedian.
The show did go ahead in the end and some people did respond with Tweets to stating how much they enjoyed it.

While Davidson himself hit back at the Tweeters who had criticised him saying ‘Had a great show against all the odds and a standing ovation. Great people.’
Scott McRuvie, venue and promotions manager at the theatre, said:Â “We were pleased to be able to fit Mr Davidson into our busy schedule so as not to disappoint his fans.
“The venue had publicised his show in our seasonal brochure, on our busy social media pages and with posters throughout the city.”
Mr Davidson could not be reached for a comment.
