Police are hunting for a man suspected of three linked crimes in Dundee overnight.

The incidents happened in the Maryfield area between 3am and 4am on Wednesday August 28.

Firstly, a man was seen trying the door handle of a property in Shamrock Street. The same person then entered an unlocked vehicle in Lammerton Terrace and stole a packet of cigarettes from within, then finally he attempted to enter a property in Lammerton Terrace, but was disturbed by the occupier and ran off towards Mains Loan.

A police statement said: “It is highly likely he also tried to gain entry to other cars or properties in the area.

“He is described as white, about 5ft 11 and medium build, and was wearing a long-sleeved grey Puma hoodie, black and grey camouflage pattern shorts, and black trainers.

“If you saw this person in the area, or if you live in that general area and have private CCTV, please let us know.

“Also, please remember to lock your cars and vehicles, and to secure your doors and windows at night when you go to bed – it only takes seconds for someone to gain entry, grab items, and get out again.

“If you have information that could assist our investigation, please call 101 or speak with any police officer. Also, information can be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111. Our reference is CR/22676/19.”
