Management at crisis-stricken high street retailer Bonmarche have confirmed that their Dunfermline branch closed for good yesterday, affecting seven jobs.

The clothing chain went into administration this autumn for the second time in seven years and the futures of its Courier Country branches remain up in the air.

Across the UK, 14 branches are permanently closing this week, and the firm have described the situation as “fluid.”

Yesterday the Dunfermline store, located in the Kingsgate shopping centre, closed but bosses are still to officially confirm what will happen to the Perth, Dundee and Kirkcaldy branches.

“Closing down” banners had been seen in the Fair City branch earlier this month, but some have been reportedly removed since then.

The same banners had also been seen in the Kirkcaldy branch windows.

On October 23, the company, which has its headquarters in Wakefield, confirmed that it is currently in administration and actively seeking a buyer for the business.

The company employs 2,900 members of staff across the 318 UK stores it operated this year.

The trading of the business has continued as normal with all online orders being delivered to customers.

Administrators said the firm “sustained periods of challenging trading conditions.”
