Due to electoral timings, Neale Hanvey appeared beside the nationalist’s logo at the ballot box on Thursday. This was despite having had his support withdrawn amid investigations materials he had posted on social media contained anti-Semitic tropes. Mr Hanvey was elected for the Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath seat by a majority of 1,243 over Labour’s Lesley Laird – despite First Minister Nicola Sturgeon asking members not to campaign on his behalf.
