Fifers are rallying round to help their neighbours in the face of warnings over the coronavirus.
Businesses, individuals and an online women’s group are forming plans to ensure vulnerable members of the community do not run short of essentials while self-isolating.
Shopping deliveries, prescription collections and checks on the elderly are among the assistance being offered by concerned citizens.
Kirkcaldy restaurant The Dining Room and Glenrothes business Hutchison’s Fresh Fish both said they had been thinking about what they could do to help in the wake of Thursday’s announcements by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and Prime Minister Boris Johnston.
In identical statements on their Facebook pages, they said: “We’ve been having a think about how we can best help our local community through what is a very worrying time for so many.
“It appears that things are about to get a lot more serious before they start to get better.”
They added: “If anyone local has to isolate themselves and they’re on their own of if you’ve got a relative here living here who has to isolate and you can’t get to them, please let us know and we will drop off food or whatever they need and we’ll check on them when we can.
“Please don’t hesitate, we are happy to do it if we can.”
A similar offer has been made by Sarah Wedderburn-Ogilvy, founder of the Women Make Fife Facebook group.
She said many of the 1,600 group members were keen to support those self-isolating by offering doorstep drops of supplies.
She has urged anyone in a position to help to let her know.

“If people that are self-isolating need help, and don’t personally know anyone, they can always reach out to me at womenmakefife@gmail.com and I’ll pop a post in the group asking for someone to volunteer, to match them up,” she said.
She added: “Obviously, if you are in a position to help look after yourself first.”
Grain and Sustain in Burntisland has also offered to do shopping for people self-isolating in the town and has called for volunteers to get in touch if they are able to deliver.
