Will the next Sir Chris Hoy be on show on the streets of Fife this weekend?

Around 100 of the best junior cyclists in the country will race across Fife this weekend in the latest British Cycling Junior Road Series event.

Three stages will be held in the Kingdom this weekend, with participants riding from Madras College in St Andrews to Kennoway Primary on Saturday morning.

The second stage on Saturday afternoon will see riders cycle from Kennoway to Craigmead Hill, before Sunday’s stage will see riders gather back at Kennoway Primary School to complete four laps of a circuit in the surrounding area, finishing back at the school.

The event is organised locally by Spokes Cycle Racing Team, with support from Fife Council’s Strategic Events Investment Programme.

Craig Grieve, from Spokes Cycling Racing Team, said: “Britain is renowned for its world class cyclists and we are pleased to showcase a wealth of young talent, all of whom have the potential to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Chris Hoy and Victoria Pendleton to become future Olympians.”

Jen Henderson, sports development manager at Fife Council, added: “Events like the British Cycling Junior Road Series might showcase some of the best talent that the country has to offer but they can also really help to encourage people to get in the saddle too.

“It’s a priority for us to help people become and stay cyclists, no matter what their age or ability.”
