Police are hunting a would-be robber bitten on the leg by his victim’s dog.
The man tried to grab the handbag of a 47-year-old woman who was walking her three dogs in Kirkcaldy.
He ran off empty-handed when one of the animals bit him during a struggle.
The incident occurred at around 7.45am on Friday, July 1, as the woman walked beside an area of grass in Ramsay Road.
She became aware of a man running behind her and about 30 seconds after another man approached her and tried to take her bag.
After he was bitten he ran off towards Pratt Street, possibly injured.
He is described as in his 20s, around 5ft 5in tall, with dark hair and a gaunt face.
He was wearing a dark coloured cap with blue denim jeans and a dark coloured tracksuit top.
The man running was also thought to be in his 20s, around 5ft 8in tall and was wearing dark jogging bottoms and a light coloured hooded top with the hood up.
Detective Sergeant Craig Fraser, of Kirkcaldy CID, said: “We’re appealing to anyone who might recognise these men, or may have witnessed this incident.
“The suspect shouted when he was bitten by the dog, and it’s possible he may have struggled to walk properly afterwards.
