The end is in sight for Fife drivers who have endured eight months of traffic disruption following an accident.
Temporary traffic lights were installed on the main route through the East Neuk after a car crashed into a bridge in January.
However, repairs to the structure on the B942, east of Colinsburgh, have yet to start.
And it means motorists are still putting up with significant delays as they pass the bridge at Pitcorthie crossroads.
The road is the busiest connection between the East Neuk villages and the west of Fife.
And it is particularly popular during the summer holiday season.
Liberal Democrat councillor Fiona Corps said she had been told repair work would be finished by the end of July.
But she added: “We’re now in mid August and work is yet to start.”
Fellow-councillor Sean Dillon is equally keen to see repairs started.
He said: “While the traffic lights are on a B-road, for locals it is the main connection between the majority of the East Neuk and the west of Fife and beyond.
“Additionally, increased traffic due to high numbers of tourists at this time of year have only compounded delays for locals getting to important places such as work and hospital appointments.”
Work at Colinsburgh traffic lights is due to begin
Fife Council has now confirmed the work will begin at the end of this month.
Frances Ratcliffe, lead consultant for bridges and structures, said the bridge in question was listed.
“This means that work takes a little longer to co-ordinate and organise as we have to make sure all the materials are appropriate and agreed by planning,” she said.
“We also have to ensure that any new materials are tested before work is carried out to make sure they are compatible with existing materials.
“I’m pleased to confirm that the tender for the work has now been awarded and work is due to start on August 29 – weather permitting.”
She added: “We’ve kept the traffic lights in place to make sure people are kept safe.
“There isn’t a footpath or verge available to put a concrete barrier up.”
