A man has been arrested after police seized £80,000 worth of cannabis from a property in Dunfermline.

The 42-year-old is scheduled to appear at court on Friday following the seizure from an address on the town’s Robertson Road.

Over 100 cannabis plants were removed from the property, with police claiming that the operation was initiated following intelligence received from within the local community.

Detective Chief Inspector Scott Cunningham of Glenrothes CID said: “This is a significant amount of cannabis recovered during this search, which has resulted in us taking more illegal substances off the streets.

“This is part of our continued positive enforcement under Operation Prospect, a multi-agency approach to tackle the harm caused by drugs misuse.

“Tackling drug crime is a top priority for Fife division and we continue to have a zero tolerance policy towards drug related offences.”

Inspector Ian Flynn of Dunfermline Police Station said: “We continue to gather information from the public to identify those involved with drugs crime and bring them to justice.

“This undoubtedly makes a difference in keeping our communities safer.

“This recovery was as a direct result of the public’s help with local officers acting quickly on information from the community.

“The public can assist in helping police tackle drug related offences and I would ask anyone with information on offences of this nature in their area to report this to Police on 101 or contact the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
