A dispute over the payment of wages led to a Fife cafe being splattered with eggs.

The incident resulted in former cafe worker Laura Murray, from Inverkeithing, appearing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

Murray, 29, of Cochrane Avenue, admitted that on October 9 at Il Pazzo Cafe, Hill Street, Inverkeithing, she behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by giving eggs to a child and telling them to throw them at the cafe windows. She also admitted making an offensive remark.

Depute fiscal Dev Kapadia told the court: “The accused was employed at the cafe and there was a difference of opinion between her and the complainer about that employment.

“On October 9, the accused attended there in relation to a sum of money she said was owed to her.”

An argument ensued and as Murray was leaving, she was heard making derogatoy remarks about foreigners.

Soon after the owner noticed eggs had been thrown on to the café window.

CCTV footage identified the involvement of Murray.

Defence solicitor Roshni Joshi responded, saying: “She’s not proud of her behaviour.

“She was employed by the owner.

“When they parted ways she made attempts to obtain unpaid wages.

“She went there with the best of intentions to obtain the wages. There was an argument and she’s ashamed of her behaviour.

“She is currently unemployed and the sum of money remains unpaid.”

Sheriff Craig McSherry deferred sentence until April 25 for good behaviour.
