An investigation has been launched after a man was found with an abdominal injury in Kirkcaldy on Monday evening.
Police and paramedics swooped on Cheviot Road amid unconfirmed reports of a double stabbing, which appear to be unfounded.
A man is being treated for his injuries in the town’s Victoria Hospital.
An appeal has been issued for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police in Fife are investigating after a man was found with an injury to his abdomen on Cheviot Road, Kirkcaldy, at around 7.15pm on Monday, May 21.
“He was taken to the Victoria Hospital where he continues to be treated.
“Inquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to come forward.”
A block of flats near the junction with Valley View were cordoned off on Monday evening.
