The Adamson in St Andrews has welcomed Maj Majer as its new head chef.
Mat follows in the footsteps of MasterChef: The Professionals semi-finalist Scott Davies, who left The Adamson in 2015 for The Three Chimneys on the Isle of Skye.
He was previously stationed at Baba in Edinburgh.
“The Adamson is an exciting move for me,” said Mat.
“I’m working within an independent restaurant where I have the opportunity to put my mark on the menus and create some amazing dishes, inspired by the St Andrews setting.”
Mat is expected to introduce a new ‘”market menu” from next month and his new seasonal autumn menu is now available.
Launched in 2012, The Adamson was named Scotland’s Restaurant of the Year 2015 and Casual Restaurant of the Year 2016.
Julie Lewis, owner of The Adamson, added: “Mat is a passionate chef with a brilliant track record within the Scottish restaurant scene.
“We are delighted to welcome him to our St Andrews family and are already tremendously impressed with his creativity.”
The Adamson has seen a number of its chefs compete for the title of MasterChef. Former head chef Stewart Macaulay and chef Chris Niven have been contestants on the BBC television show.
