Police are investigating after a young man was found dead at his home in Burntisland.
Emergency services were called to the address on Church Street at around 4.35pm on Sunday.
A 22-year-old man, named locally as Lewis Cunningham, was pronounced dead at the scene and a police probe has been launched.
His death is being treated as “unexplained” and a post mortem is due to be carried out.
Tributes have been paid to the former Fife College student, who studied acting before going on to work as a bartender in Edinburgh.
A spokesperson for the college said: “We were very sad to hear the tragic news about Lewis Cunningham, a talented performing arts student who studied at our Kirkcaldy Campus and graduated in 2017.
“Lewis was extremely hard working and well-liked by his classmates. Our thoughts go out to the family, friends and loved ones of Lewis.”
A friend, who wished not to be named, said: “No one can quite believe it. We’re all in shock. He was just so young and was one of the nicest people you could ever meet.
“You never expect something like this to happen to someone close to you. We’re all thinking of his family at this horrific time.”
His brother Ross Cunningham paid tribute and said: “I love you little brother. We will meet again.”
And Mum Ruth shared a touching photograph of her son and said: “My beautiful, beautiful baby. Lay your head down my darling boy.”
Friend Simone Kirkpatrick also said: “One of the worst weeks in history by far. Nobody should receive the message to say your high school best friend has died.
“All my memories and laughter will be kept in your heart, your wings were ready but my heart was not. Rest easy my boy.
“I love you to infinity and beyond, forever and always Lewie.”
A police presence remained at the scene on Tuesday with a marked van parked outside the house.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police in Fife were called to an address on Church Street in Burntisland around 4.35pm on Sunday January 27 following the death of a 22-year-old man.
“The death is currently being treated as unexplained and inquiries are ongoing. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
