Restlessness, anxiety, behavioural disorders, sleeplessness, nausea, a racing heart-beat, tooth decay, obesity and breathing difficulties.
Not the kind of things we want for our children, which — quite simply — is why The Courier thinks it is time to “Can It”.
We want local secondary schools across the country to ban caffeine-based fizzy drinks.
For many pupils guzzling the drinks has become part of the daily routine and is leading to a host of problems in local classrooms.
We believe enough is enough.
Teachers in our local schools are rightly proud of the job they do.
However, the widespread consumption of energy drinks — for some youngsters they even represent breakfast — is making teaching more difficult.
As an incentive to sign-up, The Courier will provide reusable water bottles to all S1 pupils joining after the summer break.
Local schools need only register by contacting email@example.com.
Please include the name of your school and a brief outline of your reason for signing up.
We will then include your school’s name in our ‘hall of fame’ — and arrange for the delivery of the water bottles.
