Dragon Duncan Bannatyne his given a roar of approval to bobbies’ banter over the antics of Courier Country neds.

The Scots businessman and star of hit BBC show Dragon’s Den gave a Twitter thumbs up to Angus and Fife cops after they jokingly floated an entrepreneurial opportunity his way following an unusual weekend capture.

The online funnies began after Levenmouth Police – fast gaining a reputation at the country’s wittiest Twitter cops –  posted a picture of a quirky motorised bicycle whose owners had a run in with the law over off-road riding.

Alongside the picture of the unusual contraption, they posted the message ‘Turning a pedalcycle intae a motorbike no ta! #talentwasted.’

Angus colleagues who saw the funny side of the serious message then joined in with a tongue-in-cheek suggestion that the odd-looking machine might be worth driving into the Den, with their message to Bannatyne: “Would you have invested? #I’mOut.

The entrepreneur, author and philanthropist responded almost immediately to the offer – with a firm no.

From his luxury home in Portugal, the 67-year-old gave the Angus and Fife bobbies a resounding LOL to the suggestion, tweeting the thread to almost 900,000 followers.

He then kept the wheels of social media turning with a rebuff to one tweet from IanTheInventor inquiring about where he could source a similar machine by telling him: Get on you7r bike ;-).

The weekend’s celebrity endorsement is the latest Twitter coup for Levenmouth Police, who have raised countless smiles with their clever use of humour via the social media site to get their serious anti-crime message across.

Their @LevenmouthPol account is nearing 6,000 followers who have been tickled by the puns and hashtags including #vengabustothecoort, #foohouseofcharges and #monthemethilpopo of the tweeting polis.
