An Angus road was forced to close after a van went up in flames on Thursday morning.
The vehicle has been left a burnt out shell by the side of the road after catching fire on the A932 Montrose to Forfar road near Clocksbriggs at 11am.
One fire and rescue appliance was called to the scene from Forfar.
The vehicle was badly damaged.
Firefighters used hose reel jets and breathing apparatus to douse the flames.
However the white van was left a blackened ruin.
A huge cloud of smoke could be seen rising from the roadside as firefighters dealt with the incident.
Police closed off the road for about an hour following the blaze, with traffic tailing back.
Officers directed traffic away from the incident.
Nobody was injured during the blaze.
A police spokesman said: “We were called around 11am following a report of a van on fire on the A932.
“Officers assisted the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service with the closure of the road for around an hour.”

The fire was not suspicious.
A fire and rescue spokeswoman said: “We are in attendance at a van on fire on the B9113. We had two breathing apparatus in use and two hose reel jets.”
