An “inspirational” 98-year-old Dundee woman, who fought off Covid-19, has died peacefully at a Monifieth care home.
Care home Tigh-Na-Muirn manager Margaret Moir paid tribute to Sundie Cabrelli, who survived the virus in May.
She said: “It was such a privilege and pleasure to care for Sundie in the final stage of such a wonderful accomplished life.
“She was an inspiration in the way she beat the coronavirus and such an uplifting presence in the home.
“She will be sorely missed by all,” she added.
Sundie was a well-known figure in Dundee as she ran the popular family chip shop Cabrelli’s on the Hawkhill, alongside her husband Peter.
Domenica Cabrelli, popularly known as Sundie, tested positive in early May and had to be quarantined after developing mild symptoms at Tigh-Na-Muirn in Monifieth.
She missed being able to communicate with other residents as she fought the virus but staff ensured she had everything she needed as she isolated, including her favourite Laurel and Hardy DVDs.
She was a life-long Dundee United fan and previously held a season ticket, as husband Peter once played for the club, as well as rivals Dundee.
