Rock or busted? AC/DC fans Thunderstruck by witty Twitter cops

The boys in blue have nailed Twitter with their love of Back in Black.

As thousands of rock fans invaded Kirriemuir for the town’s 10th anniversary homage to AC/DC frontman Bon Scott, tweeting cops raided the legendary band’s playlist for a string of amusing messages encouraging revellers to enjoy their weekend safely and sensibly.

From their @AngusPolice Twitter account the witty bobbies set the ball rolling with a welcome message on the theme of the band’s most famous album.

Having managed to sneak in the early reference to the 1980-released album – the second best-selling of all time behind only Michael Jackson’s Thriller – they followed it up with a track-packed tweet taking inspiration from some of AC/DC’s other legendary hits.

Hell’s Bells, For Those About to Rock and Long Way to the Top all featured in the follow-up encouraging those making their way to the wee red town and the dedicated Bonfest site- a new addition for 2016 featuring a big top stage for the headline acts- to have fun and Play Ball.

Unseasonal Angus weather then made things tricky for drivers, but as the snows hit they also delivered a gift to get the safety message across with another of the band’s most famous tracks capturing exactly the state of the area’s roads.

The Bonfest Twitterfest then continued in the shadow of the big top with another message encouraging fans to have fun during the busy weekend.

But despite declaring that Rock’n’Roll Ain’t Noise Pollution, it’s a safe bet that Police Scotland didn’t come good on their promise to Have a Drink On Me for every one of the estimated 3,000 fans from as far afield as Australia who flocked to the event.

Over the decade since it was established by community group DD8 Music, Bonfest has built a reputation as a good-natured gathering and the weekend has continued that theme with the international language of rock bringing together the leather and denim-clad visitors of a host of nations.

For the tweet-savvy police it’s definitely a good thing that AC/DC fans like to live life at High Voltage but aren’t always Spoilin’ for a Fight which might lead them into custody.

The last thing the Angus cops would want to risk is a Jailbreak.
