A celebrity Angus hairdresser helped make it a romantic Italian wedding to remember for former Sugababe and West End star Heidi Range.

Ross Williams, who learned his trade in Arbroath, styled the hair of singer Heidi and her two bridesmaids and also gave a speech in his role as Heidi’s “man-maid”.

The former Warddykes Primary and Arbroath Academy pupil got his first job at the age of just 13 at Shavers in the West Port.

He moved to Australia after qualifying as a stylist before moving to London where singer Will Young helped him land his dream job.

Ross had a chance meeting with the Pop Idol winner in a London bar and happened to mention that he was looking for a new job.

Will passed on the number of Paul Percival who is one half of styling power duo Percy and Reed and Ross has never looked back.

He’s spent over 10 years working with the best in the business, jet-setting around the world and tending to the locks of the famous and glamorous.

Ross has styled the hair of celebrities including Lady Gaga, Cheryl Cole, Girls Aloud, Westlife, the Spice Girls, Jenna Coleman, the Sugababes and Louis Walsh.

He has known Sugababe Heidi for 10 years and was the band’s stylist for six years.

As such, there was only one stylist Heidi wanted by her side when she married Alex Partakis in an idyllic ceremony in a Florence castle.

Ross, his partner Jack and Ross’s mum Lorraine – who owns the Portcullis Bar in Arbroath – all attended the nuptials.

Speaking from London, Ross said: “It was lovely that we were all together and the wedding was like a fairytale.

“It was magical and they really went all out and thought of every last detail.

“The castle was in the Florence hills and it was the perfect setting for a gorgeous day.”

Ross said the morning of the wedding was “really relaxed” following two or three trial runs of Heidi’s wedding hair.

“I’ve done her hair for 10 years and know what she likes so it wasn’t stressful,” he said.

“She looked amazing and it was wonderful to play such a big part in her big day.”

Heidi and Alex were set up by her personal trainer in early 2014, and felt an instant connection.

Their first date was a restaurant in London’s Notting Hill and they have been inseparable ever since.

The star has turned her back on music since chart-topping girl band the Sugababes went their separate ways and is now concentrating on theatre work.
