An Angus attraction will be beamed to millions of homes on Thursday as Dragon Matrix makes an appearance on Blue Peter.
Set in the woods of Monikie Country Park, Dragon Matrix uses augmented reality to take people into a world of virtual creatures and landmarks such as a fairy path and a red witch tree.
Presenter Barney Harwood and the Blue Peter crew spent a day filming at the event earlier this month.
People use a smartphone or tablet to find the virtual creatures in the forest.
Barney explored how the Dragon Matrix app works and interviewed those involved as well as speaking with local children and their families.
Symon Macintyre, Artistic Director of Vision Mechanics, the Edinburgh theatre company behind the event, said he was excited to see Dragon Matrix on the CBBC programme at 5pm.
He said: “We have been absolutely delighted by the interest in our event and Blue Peter really is the icing on the cake.
“We want to thank every man, woman and child who has come along to Dragon Matrix so far.
“Our audience make the event what it is and we’ve loved seeing their expressions, hearing their wows as they walk through the woods and receiving their brilliant feedback.”
With 20 talking augmented reality creatures to befriend on the theatrical walk through the woods, Dragon Matrix sees visitors embark on a quest to track six dragon stones.
The woods are lit up and inhabited by huge, illuminated installations against a backdrop of music, clever lighting and giant figures.
To mark the visit of the world’s longest running children’s television programme, a special augmented reality version of the Blue Peter badge was created.
Kirsty Hunter, chief executive ANGUSalive, which supports the attraction, said: “The show on CBBC highlights that this unique local event is drawing attention from across the country.
“It also provides a great opportunity to showcase what’s on offer in our county much further afield, whilst raising the profile of Angus as a fantastic place to live and visit.”
Thousands of people have visited the attraction since it started on October 5. It runs until October 31.
