Forfar Gala Week organisers almost managed to sneak through their big day without the weather intervening, but failed to let rain dampen the success of the 2017 programme.

The town’s Myre park hosted the finale to the busy programme, with a huge crowd turning out to enjoy a range of attractions, including displays by Highland Dancers and young martial artists, as well as an appearance by Forfar Athletic’s Baxter the Bridie mascot.

Forfar’s 2017 Scottish lightweight boxing champion Lynn Calder was invited to officially open the gala day and organisers also asked visitors to make suggestions about what they would like to see in the future.

The gala week was put together by Forfar Action Week (FAN), a new group set up to work with local clubs, organisations, businesses and individuals to improve the town and stage local events.

“We only started as a group a few months ago, but the effort that’s been shown is simply amazing.”

As part of the final day, Fords to Ferraris, and everything in between, were on show at the second Strathmore Classic Car Tour organised by Forfar Rotary Club.
