A Community Sports Hub in Monifieth will be used to break down barriers and promote inclusion for all.
Angus Alive has already seen the successful establishment of four CSHs in Arbroath, Brechin, Kirriemuir and Montrose.
The launch of Monifieth CSH follows local community engagement and has been formed in partnership with Angus Council and local clubs from a variety of sports including Monifieth Grange Golf Club, Monifieth Athletic Football Club, Monifieth Tennis Club and Monifieth Grange Bowling Club.
An open day to launch the Monifieth CSH was held at Riverview Park to give people a chance to try out a range of sporting opportunities from football and tennis to golf and bowling.
Monifieth and Sidlaw Lib Dem councillor Ben Lawrie said: “I’m pleased to hear about the Community Sports Hub being launched in Monifieth.
“Local people have been asking for more sports facilities in Monifieth for a while and it’s great that Angus Alive is acting on this.
“It’s important that people can take part in activities close to home.
“No one wants to travel out of town for sports if they don’t have to and the introduction of the Community Sports Hub means that there’s now even more to do in our bonnie wee town.”
Angus Alive has been working in partnership with sportscotland to deliver the CSH model across Angus.
The key aim of a CSH is to integrate local clubs and assist the clubs involved with leadership skills to encourage participation in sports and ultimately offer opportunities for all.

He said: “The group are now focused on developing a hub for all to enjoy opportunities in sport and recreation by removing any potential barriers and promoting inclusion for all – who knows we may capture our rising stars of the future.”
Community Sport Hubs are a Lottery-funded project through sportscotland which enables a sustainable and community-led approach to club development.
Angus Alive adopted the sportscotland Community Sport Hubs initiative, as part of the Scottish Government’s Glasgow 2014 Legacy Plan.
A spokesperson for Angus Council spokesperson said: “We know that the sports hub will be really popular with the local community.
“Residents told us of their need for a local sports and recreation centre at the recent Monifieth Charette.”
Stewart Harris, chief executive of sportscotland said it was great to see another community sport hub being launched in Angus which is contributing to the growth and development of hubs across Scotland.
