A woman was rushed to hospital on Tuesday morning after getting stuck on the rock defences at Montrose beach.
The town’s lifeboat was scrambled to the incident just behind the South Links Caravan Park along with police, firefighters, an ambulance and the Montrose Coastguard team at around 10.30am.
It is understood the woman was walking her dog and raised the alarm after getting a foot trapped under a rock.
She was freed by firefighters and transported to an ambulance on a stretcher before being taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for treatment.
A spokesman for the Montrose RNLI said: “The lifeboat stood by as the female was taken off the rocks and to safety by the shore emergency services.
“It was then returned to the lifeboat station and made ready for service.”
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We received a call at 10.28am today to attend an incident in Montrose.
“We dispatched one ambulance and our special operations response team to the scene.
“One female patient was taken to Ninewells Hospital.”
The nature of her injuries is not known. Two fire appliances were sent to the incident from Montrose.
A fire and rescue spokeswoman said: “There was a female who was trapped in the rocks behind the caravan park there. She was released by the fire service (and put) into the care of the ambulance service.
“There was no equipment used, just a longboard. I believe she was walking her dog and had slipped under a rock.”
