Two BBC Radio 1 hosts couldn’t keep a straight face after being given a lowdown of the Dundee dialect live on air.
Chris Stark was reading out his guide to the city during the Scott Mills show after it was revealed that Camperdown Park would host the 2020 Big Weekend.
Acts including Biffy Clyro, Harry Styles, Dua Lipa and Calvin Harris will play the event at the city beauty spot – which first hosted the event in 2006.
Stark’s guide, read out on Monday afternoon, included recommendations to visit the city’s hidden vaults as well as the street art tours.

However host Scott Mills and Stark were left in stitches during a section of the guide featuring Korean Billy’s analysis of the Oary tongue. The YouTube sensation, who hails from Seoul, created a video on the local dialect in November 2017.

Stark also struggled with the pronunciation of the Scots word “flegged” – which means frightened.
Reading out The Stark Guide to Dundee, he said: “The great thing about Dundee is that it is wee. It is so compact many of the main sights are within close walking distance which makes exploring a relaxed experience.

“Whilst you walk around, admire the street art, or if you want to get flegged why not take a tour of the vaults. Flegged is Dundee for scared.
“The people of Dundee are a simple folk. They don’t make long-winded descriptions for things unless they have to. A roundabout isn’t a roundabout here; it’s a circle. A drain cover at the side of a road? It’s a cundie.”
