Golfers from across the north and east of Scotland have clubbed together to support a local children’s hospital charity.
With most ARCHIE Foundation fundraising events cancelled, golfers have been asked to help out by playing a round.
The ARCHIE Open tees off on Tuesday and 17 golf clubs have already pledged their support.
They will ask players to donate £5 to ARCHIE when they play a round at their local course and submit their stableford score to the charity’s website.
Jamie Smith, fundraising manager for the ARCHIE Foundation, said: “We are extremely excited to tee off this amazing competition and we are incredibly grateful for the support received from the many clubs and courses across the north and north east who are getting behind the campaign.
“The ARCHIE Open is set to be great fun and we encourage everyone to get out, play and take part.
“Every £5 donated from the golfing community will go a long way to helping local sick children and their families in one of the three hospitals we support.”
First prize will be a round of golf on a different course each month for the winner and three friends for a year.
The runner up will win six months of golf for four and one lucky entrant will be chosen at random to receive a mystery four-ball prize from one of the seventeen participating courses.
Golf clubs which have pledged their support include Alford, Arbroath, Dufftown, Fortrose & Rosemarkie, Golspie, Kintore, Maverston, Muir of Ord, Newburgh, Oldmeldrum, Portlethen, Royal Dornoch, Sport Aberdeen, Stonehaven, Tain, Westhill and Wick.
The competition will run throughout September and is open to all. Scores can be uploaded to www.archie.org/events/archieopen
