Dundonians are being urged to embrace local greenspace and take part in a funny form of yoga.

Dundee ParkLives is a Dundee City Council-backed programme of events which encourages people to get outdoors and enjoy the parks and green spaces in their local community.

As a precursor to the event, which kicks off on Monday May 23, a session of laughter yoga will held at Dundeeā€™s Castle Green on Saturday May 21.

Participants will be encouraged to laugh enthusiastically as they partake in various recognised yoga positions.

Organisers believe there to be a number of health benefits to taking part in laughter yoga.

They claim research on the subject shows that staying active has strong links to reduced feelings of stress, reduced anxiety and happier moods.

The special one-off session is designed to boost health and wellbeing in the city, whilst encouraging Dundonians to explore their local parks and greenspaces.

The Dundee ParkLives programme will kick off from May 23 and offers more than 15 fun and informal activities, with Zumba and orienteering, to archery and Messy Play.

Residents can view a full timetable and reserve a space online at www.parklives.com.
