Cyclists are to mark the death of a Dundee United legend’s father by following the hearse in a bike procession.
Jim ‘Peem’ Brewster, father of Craig Brewster, died suddenly whilst on a cycling trip in Majorca in April.
The amateur cyclist, who had pedalled 250 miles over the three days prior to his death, had been taking part in an annual biking holiday with the Dundee Wheelers Cycling Club.
His body has since been returned to Scotland, and a funeral will be held on Tuesday at 12.30pm.
Members of the Dundee Wheelers plan to mark his death by accompanying the hearse from Camperdown Gates to the crematorium.
The family has said members can wear club colours, and donations will be collected for the Braveheart Cycling Fund, which aims to allow young Scottish cyclists to fulfil their potential.
For 19 years Jim, known as Peem by family and friends, ran Brewster’s Cycles bike shop on Logie Street, which he owned until his retirement.
Following his death, his son Craig said: “He always supported my football. He would always follow what I was doing, and what my sister was achieving too.
“My father was a real cyclist – that was his passion. After retiring, he was like a professional cyclist.
“He cycled the South African Cape Rouleur race, which he won a green jersey for.”
