A worker at a Dundee care home is faces misconduct charges after allegedly telling an elderly resident to “go and die”.

Helen Campbell will be brought in front of the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) in Dundee over her alleged conduct at Balhousie St Ronan’s Care Home on the city’s Dalkeith Road.

Campbell faces one charge, in which it’s claimed she made a series of remarks about an elderly woman at the facility’s Mayfield Unit.

It is claimed that Campbell told the woman — who is named only as AA — to “go and die”, and “for goodness’ sake, just die”, or words to that effect, in 2014. She is also alleged to have called the same resident an “old bat” and a “stupid whore”.

The SSSC also claims that Campbell told the service user to hurry up what she was eating and said to her: “Don’t you dare give me a dirty look”. It iss further alleged that Campbell laughed and joked about behind the back of the same woman, and got involved in an argument with her during meal time.

The SSSC also alleges that Campbell spoke about another service user behind her back with a colleague, by saying: “Look at that horrible woman talking about everyone.”

In relation to the same woman, she is accused of saying: “Who is she, the Queen?” or words to that effect. Campbell will go before the SSSC’s conduct sub-committee at Compass House in Dundee on Thursday and Friday.

A spokeswoman for Balhousie Care Group said: “Helen Campbell was suspended pending investigation on December 22 2014 and dismissed from employment with Balhousie Care Group on January 12 2015 on grounds of misconduct.”
