Thumbs up for Oor Wullie Bucket Trail from British astronaut Tim Peake

British astronaut Tim Peake has given the “thumbs up” to a video asking him to visit the Oor Wullie Bucket Trail in Dundee.

More than 8,000 people have already viewed the video, which features people in Tim Peake masks exploring the bucket trail while a specially re-written version of David Bowie’s Space Odditiy is played.

The video has now received likes on Twitter from Major Peake and his wife Rebecca, although he has yet to say whether he will come to Dundee to visit the trail.

The video was created by Perth-based marketing company Volpa.

They sponsored the Astro Wullie sculpture outside Dundee Science Centre, which was inspired by Major Peake.

Volpa managing director Tricia Fox said: “We’re starry-eyed to be part of Oor Wullie’s Bucket Trail, and judging by the people doing the Bucket Trail and the fact the video is rocketing to success, the public is just as excited as we are.

“But the icing on the cake would be for Tim and Rebecca to pay Dundee a visit themselves.”

Dundee is hosting the Bucket Trail for the next 10 weeks.

The event is being organised by The ARCHIE Foundation, publisher DC Thomson and Wild in Art.

Money raised will go The ARCHIE Foundation’s Tayside Children’s Hospital Appeal.

Members of the public can follow the trail using an official Bucket Trail app.

A group of Oor Wullie sculptures will also be taken on a national tour in association with ScotRail.
