A new restaurant has taken Broughty Ferry by storm over the weekend, after the long-awaited Forgan’s officially opened.

The reaction to the eatery’s opening has been “fantastic”, according to general manager Ruairi Mitchell.

Excited revellers dined throughout the day, and the first of the Saturday evening ceilidh events got under way just after 10pm.

The Ferry restaurant is the second branch in Tayside and Fife, partnered alongside the well-established St Andrews restaurant.

More than 50 jobs have been created as a result of the restaurant coming to Broughty Ferry, which has filled the site of the old Robertson’s Butchers.

Ceilidh nights will be held every Saturday evening and music performances by some of the areas top bands will be held on a Thursday.

“We had a soft opening all through last week, and on Saturday we officially opened,” said Ruairi.

“The restaurant was fully booked for dinner and demand is high for the restaurant all through the rest of October, especially at weekends.”

He added: “The reaction to our opening has been fantastic. We have had some great feedback from customers and some lovely reviews on Trip Adviser and other review sites.

“The opening weekend has been a very positive experience, and we have enjoyed a great start here.

“The ceilidh started last night after 10pm and there were a lot of people who attended.

“We are looking forward to welcoming the first of our acoustic music acts this coming Thursday, and everyone will receive a warm welcome.”
