A wrestling-daft Dundee couple will tie the knot in a ceremony conducted by their WWE hero.

Wrestling legend Ted DiBiase, the Million Dollar Man – who is now an ordained minister – will officiate the ceremony for loved-up couple Wayne Reilly, 31, and Vicky Nugent, 29, on Sunday.

The 62-year-old wrestler flew in from Mississippi on Thursday and will feature in an event at the Ardler Complex on Saturday, organised by David Low’s Scottish Wrestling Entertainment (SWE).

The couple – who are friends with David – are wrestling fanatics and have been to seven Wrestlemania events all around the USA, such as Orlando, New York, Phoenix and Miami.

When David secured the appearance of the wrestling legend at the event, Wayne – who works at restaurant Papa Joe’s – was determined to organise the wedding for the time of his visit and pin him down to do the honours.

“The idea of doing something different appealed to us so much and this will make it so special,” he said.

“Considering we are mega fans, it was just too good an opportunity to pass up.

“We’ve met him two or three times before, most recently in New Orleans in 2014 when we were surprised that he remembered us because of his connection to David.

“David helped so much in making this possible and we’re so grateful.”

The dream wedding will be at Kilconquhar Castle Estate in Fife and will feature quirky elements such as a Del Boy style van and a Jurassic Park inspired jeep to take them to the airport for their honeymoon in California.

Having met at the Counting House in Dundee at a mutual friend’s party in 2009, Wayne proposed to Vicky three years ago on a holiday to New York.

Vicky, who also works in hospitality at Beefeaters, said: “There will be around 180 to 200 guests but we have tried our best to keep it a secret about our famous minister up until now.

“It’s going to be a brilliant day and I’m so excited.”

Even the rings of the couple are dedicated to the wrestler with inscriptions which pay homage to his famous catchphrase “everybody has a price.”

Wayne’s is inscribed with “true love is priceless” whereas Vicky’s more dainty ring features simply a dollar sign and “priceless”.

David, who has known the couple for around five years, said that, although he wanted to help, he was apprehensive about the wrestler’s reaction.

“I had a lot of reserve about contacting Ted because it was one of those things where I didn’t want to waste his time.

“I didn’t want to look like a numpty if it didn’t come to fruition but all Ted asked was that the marriage wasn’t just on a whim and that they were really in love.

“He learned from fellow wrestler “Rowdy” Roddy Piper how liberating it is to wear a kilt so he’s looking forward to that, but really he just wanted to know that he was taking part in something sacred.”

Famous for his feuds in the eighties and nineties with “Macho Man” Randy Savage, the wrestler will be making his second appearance in Dundee having first visited the city in 2012.
