A police officer is to stand trial accused of stalking a woman before showing her partner a revenge porn video of her.

Simon Donaldson, who works with Police Scotland’s Tayside Division, faces a charge of stalking the woman — who cannot be named for legal reasons — over the course of almost five years at addresses in Dundee and Angus, and even at Police HQ in Dundee.

Donaldson is accused of “repeatedly and persistently telephoning and texting her and repeatedly asking her whereabouts and movements”.

He is also alleged to have repeatedly approached, texted and called her parents demanding to know her whereabouts and movements from them as well as repeatedly attending at her home address and repeatedly driving past it.

Prosecutors say Donaldson also grabbed her, threatened her, shouted at her and attempted to access her email account.

A final allegation claims that on one occasion in 2011 he arranged to meet the woman’s then partner, pretend he was currently in a relationship with the woman then showed him an old video of the pair “engaging in a sexual act”.

Donaldson, 39, whose address was given in court papers as Police HQ in Dundee’s West Bell Street, denies a charge of stalking on summary complaint at Dundee Sheriff Court.

George Donnelly, defending, said: “We have been in discussions with the Crown and there are further investigations to be undertaken.”

Sheriff John Rafferty set a new trial date in March.
