Emergency services were called to a Dundee flat after the sudden death of a 38-year-old man.
A number of police vehicles attended a house in Caird Avenue, between the junctions of Wedderburn Street and Hepburn Street, where the man was found dead.
Police have said the said the death is not being treated as suspicious but spent a day at the flat investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
The man — who was found just after 5pm on Wednesday — has not been named by police.
James Hepburn, 75, who has lived in the area for more than five years, saw an ambulance arriving at the flat shortly after 5pm.
He said: “There has been police here since Wednesday and they remained here all day on Thursday as well.
“I was advised by someone in the block that there was an officer standing guard within the close.
“The ambulance arrived just after 5pm along with the police.”
Glynis Brady, 69, a retired health care assistant who lives at the block, said: “The officers have been in the close for the last few days.
“I knew there was an officer sitting up the stairs but we didn’t know what had happened — I’m shocked that it was a death.” Fellow resident Johnny Miller, 68, a retired caterer, said there were a number of emergency services at the scene on Wednesday night.
He said: “The police and an ambulance all arrived after 5pm on Wednesday.
“I initially thought someone had been assaulted.”
Annabella Nelson, 71, who also lives nearby, added: “I don’t know anyone who lives in that block but I spoke to
a neighbour and was told a man had died, which was certainly shocking to hear.”
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that a 38-year-old man was found dead within a flat in Caird Avenue, Dundee, on Wednesday.
“There are no suspicious circumstances and, as with all sudden deaths, a report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.”
