Wind and rain is due to hit Dundee later this week as one of the city’s most anticipated music events comes to the waterfront.

The Met Office has said low pressure from the Atlantic will sweep into Scotland on Thursday and Friday, with wind and rain highly likely at the Little Mix concert in Slessor Gardens.

Though the weather picture may change as we get closer to the gig, which kicks off on Thursday evening, the forecaster has warned those attending to “prepare for rain”.

Thousands of people are due to attend the concert featuring the X-Factor stars in only the second event at Slessor Gardens.

Spokesman for the Met Office, Oli Claydon, said: “It is certainly a change to a more unsettled weather into the latter part of the week with more rain and wind strengthening.

“It does look like there is doing to be a bit of rain around. It is certainly going to be unsettled.

“Thursday through the day and into the evening is going to be quite windy. Today is probably the best day of the week. Dundee is going to be getting a little bit more brightness than others through Wednesday.

“The weather we have had over the last few weeks and the warm conditions was due to high pressure. We now have low pressures from the Atlantic, a series of low pressures bringing through this wet and windy conditions.

“There will be strong winds towards the end of the week. Prepare for rain.”

He added it was too early for rain volumes to be estimated.
