Staff at Dundee’s Caird Hall have confirmed the venue will host a “major” concert next month.

The act they have secured is said to be a big name in the world of music.

However Dundee City Council said it could not confirm the details until later on today.

Last night the Caird Hall tweeted they were announcing the “major concert”, which will take place on August 22.

It comes after the people of Dundee backed Sir Rod Stewart to headline Slessor Gardens in 2018 following an online poll by The Courier.

After seeing the strength of public opinion in Dundee, a spokeswoman for Liz Hobbs Group – which secured the three waterfront shows this year – did not rule out the singer, 72, taking to the stage in the city.

However Sir Rod is due to play Ceaser’s Palace in Las Vegas on the August 22, so it looks unlikely he will be heading to Dundee so soon.
