Tickets went on sale for Stereophonics gig at the Caird Hall this morning

Gutted Dundee music fans queued in the rain from 7am only to miss out on a chance to see one of the UK’s biggest rock bands in the city.

About 100 Stereophonics fans formed a line outside the Dundee Box Office this morning, some arriving at 4.30am, to secure tickets to see the group at the Caird Hall.

The Welsh rockers announced the gig, which will take place on August 22, last week.

The Box Office sold out of standing tickets quickly, after which only seated remained.

However within almost half an hour they had completely sold out, meaning more than half the people who had queued left empty handed.

Several angry fans confronted staff at the Box Office.

Within the hour, tickets appeared for huge prices on websites including Viagogo and StubHub.

Angela Ferry said she was “gutted” having queued since just after 7am to get tickets for herself and her husband.

The 51-year-old said Stereophonics are one of her favourite bands.

The support worker added: “I was gutted, totally gutted. I half expected the queue to be bigger. I was at the door when I was told (they had sold out).

“A lot of people stood there for two-and-a-half hours. I have seen them before, I have got all the albums. Why aren’t they playing Slessor Gardens?”

Jenni Mitchell also missed out on tickets.

She said: “We tried online as well, they sold out within five or six minutes there. I am totally gutted, honestly I love Stereophonics.”
