Hundreds of Dundee school children were introduced to the world of classical music this morning.
Sistema Scotland’s fourth children’s orchestra has been established in the city with the launch of Big Noise Douglas at St Pius Primary School this morning.
Bringing the project to Dundee is one of the legacies of legendary local musician Michael Marra. The initiative has been hugely successful in Aberdeen, Striling and Glasgow.
Speaking at the event today Marra’s daughter, Alice Marra, said it had been one of “the proudest days” of her life attending the launch.
Sistema Scotland chairman Richard Holloway also attended the event and said he was “delighted” to see the project expand to the City of Discovery.
Pupils from St Pius and Claypotts primary schools will be taught through the programme.
