An emergency rescue swung into action in the early hours of this morning after a man plunged into the River Tay.
Broughty Ferry RNLI said it was called out after a “distressed male” was seen near the water at Discovery Quay.
The alarm was raised at 4.30am and the volunteer crews launched their inshore and larger all-weather lifeboat Elizabeth of Glamis.
They arrived on scene by 4.55am, and stayed while the incident unfolded.
At around 5.20am, the man plunged into the water but was quickly collected by the inshore lifeboat and handed over to waiting ambulance personnel.
It is understood the man was taken to hospital but was not seriously injured in the incident.
