Dundee firms team up to launch new marmalade-inspired gin

An award-winning Dundee distiller has teamed up with a city firm to launch a new marmalade-themed gin.

The James Keiller Estates’ Dundee Dry Gin is inspired by the original marmalade made by the Keiller family in the late 18th century.

It has been produced and bottled by Verdant Spirits, which won the Gin of the Year Award at the inaugural Scottish Gin Awards in September.

Keiller and his wife Janet ran a sweet and preserves shop and opened a factory in 1797 making their Dundee Marmalade.

Dundee was at the centre of major trading routes at the time, and it was said Janet Keiller chanced upon her successful recipe after receiving Seville oranges from a stricken vessel that arrived in the city’s port.

Look what we've been busy distilling and bottling for James Keiller's!! Coming soon to a shop near you – just in time for Christmas!! Watch this space!

The Keiller recipe became the standard for marmalades and the family name became known the world over.

The new gin is said to be “infused with this tradition” and “jammed” with flavours, including Seville orange.

It will be on sale soon.
