Dundee man sexually assaulted young girls after inviting them over for some “fun”

Kevin Duncan.

A middle-aged man who invited girls aged 13 and 14 to his house for a sleepover then plied them with booze and sexually assaulted them is facing jail.

“Opportunistic” Kevin Duncan was contacted by the 13-year-old girl – a close relative of whom he knew – who sent him an innocent text saying she hadn’t seen him for some time.

Duncan then invited her to come to his house for some “fun” and said he would get his own daughter to go out for the night so they could have a sleepover at which he would supply her with alcohol.

The 55-year-old sent her a string of text messages and described her as “naughty”.

Fiscal depute Charmaine Gilmartin told Dundee Sheriff Court that the girl agreed to come over if she could bring her 14-year-old friend with her.

She said: “The accused offered them alcohol and they took it.

“They went to the bathroom at one point to discuss not feeling comfortable there and said they were not going to stay over. They decided to make their excuses and leave.

“As the 14-year-old girl walked down the stairs the accused tried to grab her bottom.

“The 13-year-old then walked in and he grabbed her bottom and the girls backed away.

“A short time later the complainers told the accused they were leaving.”

The accused then made a lewd comment.

Duncan, 55, of Logie Gardens, Dundee, pleaded guilty on indictment to two charges of sexual assault and one under the Sexual Offences Scotland Act.

Defence solicitor George Donnelly said: “The initial text came out of the blue.

“That then started off a conversation that had never been rehearsed before. It quickly got out of control and went in the direction that has resulted in the charges on this indictment.”

Sheriff Alastair Brown deferred sentence until next month and released him on bail. He was placed him on the sex offenders register meantime.
