Missing Liam Colgan: Watch Dundee United boss’s German video appeal

Dundee United manager Csaba Laszlo has recorded a video message in German as part of the search for missing Scot Liam Colgan.

Liam, who is from Inverness and is a Dundee United fan, has been missing for almost three weeks, after disappearing on his brother’s stag-do in Hamburg.

The United boss has recorded a message in German, first featured on newspaper Bild’s website, asking for anyone with information about Liam’s whereabouts to come forward.

Csaba asks residents in Hamburg to keep an eye out for Liam, noting the 29-year-old cannot speak German.

He said:  “Dear sports fans, Dundee United fan Liam Colgan is in Hamburg, having not returned to Scotland.

“If anyone knows where he is, please contact the police.

“He does not speak any German, only English.

“With your help, I believe we can help get him back to Scotland.”

Laszlo’s appeal comes after United captain Willo Flood issued a video appeal on behalf of the family.

Friends and relatives last saw him in the Veermaster Bar and he has been identified on CCTV footage from the Baumwell area after leaving the bar.

A confirmed sighting by his family was announced by The Lucie Blackman Trust on Monday, saying he had been seen shortly after being separated from the group.

CCTV footage seen by the family shows Liam arriving at the vehicle barrier
of G&J building in Baumwall, Hamburg, at about 2.20am.

Police also probed a potential sighting of Liam in Hamburg on Thursday night.

A sniffer dog was brought in but the search was without success.

A spokesperson for Hamburg police said: “After a hint from a witness yesterday afternoon, who said he has seen Liam yesterday at 5pm at Johannes-Brahms-Platz we searched again.

“Three dog units were sent to that area, unfortunately without success.”
