A man has been left with serious injuries after being attacked with a chainsaw in a Dundee car park.
More than 10 police vehicles rushed to Caird Park Golf Course at around 4pm on Wednesday after reports that a man had attacked another man in the club’s car park.
Caird Park Golf Course has been closed as a result of the alleged incident, with evening lessons called off.
A 67-year-old man was discovered with a “serious” injury at the park and was taken to hospital for treatment.
A 44-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the alleged incident.
Police have confirmed that a chainsaw was used in the attack.
Speaking at the scene Detective Sergeant Graeme Wishart said: “At 4pm this afternoon, police were called to an incident report that someone had been assaulted at a golf course in Dundee.
“Police have attended here and there has been a 67-year-old male found with a serious injury.
“He has been taken to hospital. His injuries are serious but not life-threatening.
“He has been getting treatment at hospital. The full extent of his injuries are still to be found out.
“One person is believed to be responsible for the incident and that person – a 44-year-old male – has been traced nearby and he has been arrested and is in police custody.
“I can confirm a chainsaw was used in the attack.
“The victim was conscious and able to speak to officers when they attended here.”
He added: “There were various other members of the public that were in the area at the time and they have been spoken to. If anyone was present and has not been spoke to then we ask they come forward.”
Golf Dundee posted: “Caird Park Golf Course is currently closed. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
A spokesman for Leisure and Culture Dundee said: “We are aware of an incident at Caird Park Golf Course. However, it would be inappropriate to comment at this moment in time.”
The emergency service activity caused a knock-on effect to traffic on the Kingsway.
