A teenage thief smashed a stolen car into a parked vehicle before ploughing it into a wall on a quiet Dundee street on Thursday morning.
Police are now hunting the thief, who fled the scene before he could be apprehended.
Officers believe the male may have injured himself in the collisions and may need medical attention.
Residents in the Gowrie Park area of Dundee were woken by the sound of the collision just after 7am, which occurred on the junction of Mallaig Avenue and Lochinver Crescent.
They saw the hoodie-wearing teen abandon the car and flee the scene before emergency services could arrive.
Police later revealed the silver car had been stolen from outside an address in nearby Sutherland Crescent.
The car was stolen sometime after 9.45pm but police believe it was not until the early hours of Thursday morning that it was actually taken.
A parked car was damaged in Forth Crescent in a hit-and-run collision around 7am, five minutes before the crash in Mallaig Avenue.
The driver, described as in his late teens and wearing a black hoodie, was seen to run off from the scene in the direction of South Road.
One nearby resident said: “It looked like the car was driven straight through the wall.”
Given the times and proximity of the two collisions, officers investigating the incidents believe that the stolen car careered into the parked car on Forth Crescent before hitting the wall on Mallaig Avenue.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We have already spoken with a number of witnesses, but we would like to ask anyone who was in the area at the relevant time and thinks they may have seen this car, or has any information which could assist our enquiries, to contact us.
“Anyone with any information should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 0638 of June 28 or speak to any police officer.”
