Dundee FC-supporting pranksters have created their own memorial to commemorate the “Doon Derby”.
The tiny plaque was found glued to a bench in the City Square.
It celebrates the scorers in Dundee’s 2-1 victory in the derby match in May 2016 that relegated neighbours Dundee United to the Championship.
The plaque reads: “In glorious memory of Kostadin Gadzhalov & Craig Wighton. Beautiful Monday 2/5/2016 Never forgotten.”
The image was shared on social media and seen by Bulgarian defender Gadzhalov who said he was “extremely happy” with the tribute.
Gadzhalov, who now plays for Botev Vratsa in his home country, posted on Facebook: “I am extremely happy to see my name here! It was an unforgettable game for me! I wish the team the very best of luck! It was an honour to me to be part of Dundee FC, I had four great seasons that I will never forget! All the best for the new season!”
However, not everyone was so happy to see the tribute.
Dundee City Council workers removed the 2in plaque, which appeared to have been professionally engraved, on Monday.

The derby on May 2 2016 saw Dundee net a late winner through homegrown star Craig Wighton – a result which saw United relegated to the Championship.
United, who needed all three points to retain their SPL status, took the lead through Edward Ofere early in the second half.
But Gadzhalov’s first goal for the Dark Blues tied the game at 1-1.
A draw would have been enough to relegate the Tangerines but Craig Wighton added a second in the third minute of injury time to rub salt into United’s wounds.
Inevitably, Dundee fans have been gloating about the derby since 2016.
Many supporters saw the match as revenge for Dundee United winning the Premier League title at Dens Park in 1983.
However, supporters will have to find other ways — or places — to commemorate the victory after the plaque was scrapped on Monday afternoon.
A spokesman for Dundee City Council said: “This item has now been removed.”
Dundee FC was asked to comment but had not responded by the time of going to press.
