A wedding fashion extravaganza is coming to Dundee, offering to-be-weds and their friends and family plenty of outfit inspiration for the big day.

The exclusive fashion show, hosted by bridal magazine Scottish Wedding Directory, will take place on August 16 at DC Thomson’s HQ in Meadowside. Attendees will be treated to a glass of fizz, gin or 71 Brewing beer, a goody bag and a seat by the catwalk to preview the latest bridal, bridesmaid and groomswear collections for 2019.

“We ran this show for the first time last year to great success, so we’re delighted to be making it even bigger and better for 2018,” said Natasha Radmehr, editor of Scottish Wedding Directory.

“It’s the perfect night out for couples who still haven’t sussed out what they want to wear when they tie the knot – last year, a bride-to-be ordered her dream dress after spotting it on the runway!”

Brides-to-be will get to see and try on wedding dresses from a range of top international bridal designers including Enzoani, Berta (a celeb favourite), Eternity Bridal, Mary’s Bridal, Art Couture, Christina Wu and Justin Alexander.

Lindsay Brown, of Dundee bridal boutique Alison Kirk Bridal said she’s excited to see American designer Justin Alexander’s gowns on the catwalk.

“As a premier retailer of Justin Alexander we are huge fans of their designs and their new collection is fantastic,” she said.

Some of the biggest trends for the year ahead will be on show, from off-the-shoulder styles to glamorous silhouettes and beaded fabrics.

In addition to wedding dresses there’ll be bridesmaid and guest gowns from designers such as Adrianna Papell Platinum, Rachel Allan Prom and Motee Maids, so brides are encouraged to bring their pals along and make a fun evening of it.

And it’s not all about the ladies. This year, by popular demand, a host of groomswear companies will be bringing stylish kilts and dapper suits to the catwalk for grooms, best men and fathers of the bride.

Menswear will also be on show.

Menswear models will strut their stuff in the newest collections from Walker Slater, The Kilt Hire Co, McCalls and Slater Menswear.

Both traditional and contemporary styles will be on show, including Slater Menswear’s modern ONESIX5IVE range.

“Aimed at the cool young man and designed to be reflective of his wider lifestyle, this collection is bold but measured, quietly ambitious and decidedly stylish,” said Lee McGowan from Slater Menswear, which has stores throughout Scotland including in Dundee.

After the show, couples will have the opportunity to speak to fashion experts from across the wedding industry to get advice on finding an outfit that suits their style and budget.

“It can be quite daunting trying to decide what you’ll wear on the most special, not to mention most photographed, day of your life, so this is a great chance to get some words of wisdom from those in the know,” said Beth Farquhar, Scottish Wedding Directory’s fashion lead and co-ordinator of the fashion show.

The event will take place from 6pm until 9pm, and there will be an after party at a venue nearby for those who fancy a post-show tipple.
