The final of a trio of what will hopefully be a recurring series of summer concerts rocked Slessor Gardens in Dundee.
Simple Minds played to a packed city centre crowd, following raucous sets from Chrissie Hynde’s Pretenders and local hero KT Tunstall.
Peppered with hits from the Scots band’s long and varied career, fans were able and indeed encouraged to sing along with songs including Don’t You (Forget About Me), Alive And Kicking and perhaps most poignantly for Dundee, Waterfront.
KT Tunstall opened proceedings, performing latest single The River from her upcoming album Wax, as well as crowd-pleasers Black Horse and the Cherry Tree and Suddenly I See.
The former Dundee High pupil, who has won multiple awards including Brits and Grammy’s, then joined Simple Minds on stage for a rendition of Promised You A Miracle.
The Pretenders, led by Chrissie Hynde, also played a hit-filled set, including Don’t Get Me Wrong and I’ll Stand By You.
Last night’s concert was the third in a series organised by the Lizz Hobbs Group, who have now produced concerts at Slessor Gardens two years in a row.
It concluded another successful set of shows kicked off by ’90s pop group Steps in June and Rita Ora at the end of July.

Last year the group brought Little Mix, UB40 and Olly Murs to Slessor Gardens.
Pubs and restaurants were bustling throughout yesterday afternoon, with the relatively early concert start not putting off music lovers from enjoying the waterfront’s newest and more well-established attractions.
The roads surrounding the concert venue were closed from 2.30pm, leading to early congestion on some of Dundee’s busiest roads.
Similar road closures will be in place later this week ahead of the opening of the V&A Dundee.
The 3D Festival, headlined by Glasgow rockers Primal Scream, has sold out, with 20,000 people expected to descend on the city centre on Friday.
