The entire roof was engulfed in flames shortly after 9pm, and firefighters attempted to flood the building.

Nobody is said to have been injured.

Witnesses said the whole building was engulfed in flames and neighbours initially feared the wind would cause it to spread to nearby woodland.

Firefighters had the incident under control by about midnight.

Nearby resident David Rodgers, who saw the blaze while out walking his dog in Dunbar Park, said: “It’s an extensive fire.

“The flames are about 30 to 40 feet in the air and it spread from one end of the building to the other in about 20 minutes.”

“The whole sky is red and the building is being completely gutted,” he said.

“I’m really hoping they can contain in because it’s really windy so if it spreads it will catch all of the surrounding woodland.”
